Novena to the Immaculate Conception, Day 2

Opening Prayer

℣. You are all fair, O Mary.
℟. You are all fair, O Mary.

℣. And the original stain is not in You.
℟. And the original stain is not in You.

℣. You are the glory of Jerusalem.
℟. You are the joy of Israel.

℣. You are the honour of our people.
℟. You are the advocate of sinners.

℣. O Mary.
℟. O Mary.

℣. Virgin, most prudent.
℟. Mother, most merciful.

℣. Pray for us.
℟. Intercede for us with Our Lord Jesus Christ.

℣. In your Conception, O Virgin, you were immaculate.
℟. Pray for us to the Father Whose Son You have borne.

Let us pray

God, by the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin,
you prepared a worthy dwelling for Your Son,
we beseech You, that as in view of the death of that Son,
You preserved Her from all stain of sin,
so You would enable us, being made pure by Her intercession to come to You.
We ask this through the same Christ Our Lord.

℣. We praise and invoke You, O Immaculate Conception,
Mary, Mother of God, Perpetual Virgin,
Holy Queen assumed into Heaven.

℟. We greet you, Daughter of the eternal Father,
Mother of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Holy Spirit,
Temple of the Most Holy Trinity.
We hail You, Immaculate Lady,
eternally predestined by God to be the Mother of Mercy,
the Mediatrix of all graces.

In Your freedom from all stain of sin, and in Your fullness of grace,
we contemplate the perfect image and first flowering of the Church
as She is to be perfected in the world to come.
Therefore, Immaculate Mother of the Church,
we now confidently turn to You,
and ask you to obtain from Your holy and beloved Son
the favours we request in this novena:
[the great joy of seeing Blessed John Duns Scotus canonized
and my intention for Jennifer's health.]

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who fled to Your protection,
implored Your help or sought Your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence, we fly unto You,
O Virgin of virgins, our Mother;
to You do we come, before You we stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not our petitions,
but in Your mercy hear and answer us.

O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to You.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to You.
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to You.

Prayer for the Canonization of Blessed John Duns Scotus

O Most High, Almighty and gracious Lord,
Who exalts the humble and confounds the proud of heart,
grant us the great joy of seeing Blessed John Duns Scotus canonized.

He honoured Your Son with the most sublime praises;
he was the first to defend successfully
the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary;
he lived in heroic obedience to the Holy Father,
to the Church and to the Seraphic Order.

O Most Holy Father, God of infinite love,
hear, we beseech You, our humble prayer,
through the merits of Your Only-Begotten Son and of His Mother,
Coredemptrix and Spouse of the Holy Spirit.

Triduum to Implore Graces from Blessed John Duns Scotus

Day 2

O worthy defender of the exalted Mother of God,
who wished always to ascribe to Her what seemed to you most excellent,
and who edified the world with the constant practice of the most beautiful virtues,
deign from heaven, where you enjoy the reward of your most holy life,
to turn your merciful gaze toward me,
who confides in you, and grant me the grace for which I humbly ask:
[my intention for Jennifer's health]

Thanksgiving to Blessed John Duns Scotus for Graces Received

Thank you, O my most benign protector;
the love with which you assist those who have recourse to you is truly great.
I am certain that the world will soon be filled with your wonders
and that your name will be everywhere invoked
and blessed by countless souls who experience the beneficent effects of your protection.

To this chorus I, a poor sinner,
wish to unite my voice to show you all my gratitude.
Thank you, friend of the humble, thank you,
true devotee of the Mother of God;
impart a kiss for me on Her august mantle, so that, by your means,
She will deign now and always to graciously guide me.

Prayer to Saint Gianna Beretta Molla

God, our Father,
we praise You and we bless You
because in Saint Gianna Beretta Molla
You have given and made Known to us
a woman who witnessed the Gospel
as a young person and bride, as a mother and doctor.
We thank You because,
through the gift of her life,
we learn to accept and honour every human being.

Lord Jesus,
You were for her a privileged reference.
She was able to see You in the beauty of nature.
As she questioned her choice of life,
she was searching for You and for the best way to serve You.
Through her married love, she became a sign
of your love for the Church and for all men and women.
Like You, Good Samaritan, she stopped at the side
of every sick person, of the small and the weak.
Following your example,
she lovingly offered up her life, while giving new life.

Holy Spirit, source of all perfection,
give also to us wisdom, intelligence and courage
so that, following Saint Gianna's example
and through her intercession,
we may serve every person
in our personal, family and professional life,
and thus grow in love and holiness.
