Obama: Winning the Fight Against Poverty

President Barack Obama has done more than any other president in the struggle to eliminate poverty, particularly with his Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). He has made it one of his highest priorities to guarantee funding to the one organization that is most dedicated to the anti-poverty cause. He was even willing to cut off all Medicaid funding for family planning to the state of Texas if they discriminated against this and any other such anti-poverty organizations.

Obama’s fight to eliminate poverty is much like the fight to eliminate Down Syndrome. Denmark is hopeful to win the fight against Down Syndrome by the year 2030. Perhaps the United States of America will not be far behind Denmark in eliminating Down Syndrome due to President Obama’s efforts to eliminate poverty.

Margaret Sanger, one of America’s early leaders in the fight against poverty, would have been elated with the policies of President Obama (although she would have been a little put off by the colour of his skin). It would have been a dream come true for her to see the Federal Government funding the organizations she established that evolved into the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Those who take a vow of poverty may be concerned about this fight against poverty, but President Obama is doing what he can to silence them. They also take a vow of celibacy, so President Obama’s anti-poverty policies really don’t affect them anyway.
